The project involved excavation of the existing Phragmites marsh, building islands with the spoil, and planting a new low marsh dominated by Spartina alterniflora and high marsh dominated by Spartina patens and Distichlis spicata. The islands were seeded with warm season grasses and planted with upland trees and shrubs.
