Healy Avenue Marsh Restoration

Norton Inlet, Jamaica Bay, Far Rockaway, NY

 

Excavate 10,000 C.Y. from a filled former wetland.  Screen construction debris from the sand and dispose of off site.  Establish an upland dune community with the excavated, screened clean sand.  This was part of a value-engineering proposal. A low and high salt marsh community was re-established in the tidal zone.
