Carlstadt, N.J.
Restore over 150 acres of low and high salt marsh community using both seeding and vegetative planting techniques. Construct a 200-Acre Salt Marsh as a mitigation bank for the sale of wetland credits in northern Essex County, NJ. The project is split into three phases. Phase I and Phase II have been constructed. The project involved excavation of the existing Phragmites marsh, building islands with the spoil, and planting a new low marsh dominated by Spartina alterniflora and high marsh dominated by Spartina patens and Distichlis spicata. The islands were seeded with warm season grasses and planted with upland trees and shrubs.
