Joline Avenue Wetland Restoration
Staten Island, NY
Laying out plants, Pond D, early in project, May 2001
Create a fresh water palustrine plant community in an existing abandoned construction site on Staten Island. The approved plan was modified and field adjusted with NYDEC approval. Vernal pools were excavated and connected to the surface water flow through the wetlands. Plant material selection was adapted to the specifics of the final grading plan and long-term succession of the appropriate plant community.
Pond completed, October 2001
